Peach Balls are being exhibited and sold at the Osaka Nakanoshima Museum of Art.
We produced the peach juggling balls used in Miwa Yanagi's stage performance and video work "Yomotsuhirasaka ~Exclusion and Play~," currently on display at the exhibition "Us in the Room of Wonders, Perish." at the Nakanoshima Museum of Art, Osaka.
At the venue, the actual balls used in the performance are on display, and at the special shop, the museum merchandise "Momo no Tsubute (Peach Pebbles)" is available for pre-order production.
This time, Naoshi Watanabe, a body researcher and circus artist, appeared in "Yomotsuhirasaka," and through that connection, we were able to produce the balls.
It was a new challenge for me to create "peaches that can be juggled," but I think they turned out very well.
The "Momo no Tsubute" sold as merchandise are slightly smaller than those used in the stage and video works.
We adjusted the weight and feel so that even people who don't usually juggle can feel comfortable just by throwing them up and catching them.
Also, to ensure they can be kept as souvenirs for a long time, beads are used inside instead of grains.
Each one is handmade, including the coloring, so I would be delighted if you could pick them up and feel them at the venue.
With Naoshi Watanabe
I went to see the actual stage performance of "Yomotsuhirasaka" in May, and it was a truly wonderful work.
I have known Naoshi Watanabe for a long time, and he is now active worldwide as a body researcher, going beyond the realm of juggling.
I am very happy to have had the opportunity to work with him again thanks to juggling.
